Are you an Andrew Pudewa fan? You’ll enjoy this interview if you are! After two grueling but productive homeschool days at the Indiana Home Educators Convention six years ago, I wearily hauled my rolling suitcase, burdened with books, through the crowded Exhibition Hall. Mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausted, I unexpectedly stumbled upon the booth for The Institute for Excellence in Writing. My bleary eyes were drawn to a spiral notebook brimming with student examples. As I began to peruse the impressive material, a profound realization dawned: I must have this homeschool writing curriculum!
Interview with Andrew Pudewa (38:41)
Armed with my mighty VISA card, I purchased the TWSS – Teaching Writing with Structure and Style – a teacher’s manual and DVDs that have altered the attitude and ability of my family towards composition. Since that day, I have happily returned to IEW for more materials, and I have never been disappointed. Thank you, Andrew Pudewa, for reminding me of the basic components of excellent writing and giving me the stylistic tools to write a paragraph teeming with dress ups, sentence openers, decorations, triples, and advanced dress ups!

I had heard of IEW for years but just figured it was like every other writing program I had tried; so I didn’t even bother to check in to it. However, Andrew was speaking at the OK conference I was attending. I was NOT disappointed. So much of what he taught made amazing sense and came from such practicality! I was sold. My first year I didn’t seem to be able to integrate it as easily as Andrew taught it. But I joined the IEW Yahoo group and then things really started to take off. Now, I am a regular contributor to the loop and both my son and I have greatly improved in our composing abilities. We are going on 4 years with IEW and have moved on to a variety of their products. Andrew is an excellent speaker, lecturer, and teacher. I cannot recommend IEW products enough.
GREAT interview! We are in our second year using TWSS and the Poetry. It has been a lot of fun to learn alongside my dd. We highly recommend IEW!
This was an excellent opportunity to hear some of Andrew Pudewa’s ideas for an effective homeschool education. As a die-hard fan of the IEW writing program already, I recognize that Andrew has a wealth of thoughtful wisdom for Christian homeschoolers. Thank you for this well-conducted interview!
Sallie, you are welcome; I am so glad that you enjoyed his thoughtful wisdom. It was my honor and pleasure to interview Andrew. He is genuinely humble and approachable, and I am grateful for his contribution to our family over the years!
Loved the interview! I’ve used IEW for one semester and was encouraged to keep going. Want to know more, more more!
